Job Description – Associate Director, Corporate Accounting

  • Provides leadership and directly supervises Accounting Manager, and Labor Supervisor, and ensures their accountability and performance of respective department outputs.

  • Ensures reconciliation of all corporate accounting systems and sub-systems, and works closely with Associate Director, Field Accounting to ensure accurate integration of field finance data into corporate accounting systems and ledgers.

  • Oversees timely reconciliation of all corporate balance sheet accounts.

  • Responsible for overseeing month-end close procedures for all corporate accounting departments, and inter-company systems, to ensure accurate and timely month end close.

  • Ensure timely and successful resolution of all corporate accounting transactional queries and issues company-wide.

  • Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of all corporate accounting functions within FHI360’s accounting software system.

  • Responsible for overseeing testing, setup, functionality and successful implementation of corporate accounting software enhancements, and is fully cognizant of integration of corporate system with other systems.

  • Ensure integrity of all corporate accounting financial data in systems, and that it supports financial reporting and analysis objectives.

  • Responsible for ensuring accounting system setup and functionality, and conduct of corporate accounting processes for indirect cost rate structures, pools, service centers, allocations, clearing accounts, inter-company accounts, and other accounting processes within accounting software system.

  • Responsible for producing monthly organizational financial management reports, ad hoc reports, and corporate accounting KPI’s.

  • Assists Director, Accounting and the Audit Manager in the preparation of annual audited financial statements, including consolidated financial statements.

  • Ensures provision of all corporate accounting information to auditors.

  • Responsible for content development of corporate accounting standard operating procedures, and assisting Director, Accounting with development of accounting policies.

  • Responsible for providing leadership on corporate finance projects and improvement initiatives, and ensuring successful implementation.

  • Manages preparation of all incurred cost proposal schedules and information required to be submitted to cognizant US government agency.

  • Ensures inter-company accounting systems and business procedures are adequate and compliant with internal and external requirements.

  • Provides mentoring and technical leadership and subject matter expertise to departmental staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration required.

  • Minimum of 8+ years of finance management experience 10 years related work experience preferred, including 5+ years’ experience managing a team of finance professionals at a regional or corporate headquarters level of a large or medium size international organization.

  • Significant experience working for an international non-governmental organizations or US government contractor required.

  • High degree of technical accounting competency required. Must have strong project accounting, fund accounting, and inter-company accounting knowledge. CPA qualification is essential.

  • Knowledge of US GAAP, CAS, OMB 2 CFR 200 and US govt cost allowability principles required.

  • Significant experience using ERP systems or complex accounting software systems required. Knowledge of Deltek CostPoint is essential. Knowledge of MS Navision desirable.

  • Previous experience leading or participating in design and implementation of an ERP system highly regarded.

  • Strong system and data analytical skills required. Must be able to solve complex problems both individually, and by leveraging team skills and resources.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of cost pools and allocations required.

  • Excellent MS Excel skills required. Strong knowledge and skills in other MS Office application highly regarded.

  • Proven ability to provide both operational and strategic leadership required.

  • Must have excellent organizational, supervisory, and managerial skills.

  • Must be articulate and professional, with good communication and negotiation skills.
